Role Overview
We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer that loves all things data, forecasting, algorithms, clever approaches that result in simple systems, and can solve the nytimes mini regularly in under 30 seconds. This role is tailor-made for an engineer that wants to build from the ground floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines that support complex data processing and analysis at scale.
- Develop and implement forecasting algorithms to predict cloud spending trends, enabling data-driven decision-making.
- Develop and implement risk models for understanding exposure and optimizations available.
- Collaborate closely with the team to develop an incremental product, but know which foundational components need to be set.
- Champion best practices in software development, data science, and software quality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong focus on data engineering, data science, or related fields.
- Proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale data pipelines and forecasting models.
- Experience with forecasting models (Prophet, ARIMA, etc…)
- Deep expertise in cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure) and understanding of cloud cost management strategies.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, Typescript and familiarity with data processing frameworks and databases.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a passion for tackling complex challenges head-on.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and work with a technical team to problem solve collaboratively.
